NOTICE OF MEETINGS

OPEN BOARD MEETING
(Board meetings are available by audio webcast and telephone.)

Thursday, September 6, 2007, 9:00 a.m.

The Board meeting will be held on Thursday instead of Wednesday.

  1. Accounting for contingencies (estimated 1-hour discussion). The Board will discuss whether to add a project to its agenda to reconsider the provisions for accounting for contingencies previously provided for in FASB Statement No. 5, Accounting for Contingencies.

  2. Useful life and amortization of intangible assets (estimated 1-hour discussion). The Board will discuss (a) alternatives for amortizing intangible assets, (b) the accounting for renewal costs, (c) the need for additional disclosures, and (d) transition and effective date for a proposed FSP.

  3. Open discussion. If necessary, the Board will allow time to discuss minor issues with staff members on technical projects or administrative matters. Those discussions are held following regular Board meetings as topics come up.

OPEN EDUCATION SESSION

Thursday, September 6, 2007, following the Board meeting

The Board will hold an educational, non-decision-making session to discuss topics that are anticipated to be discussed at a future Board meeting. Those topics will be posted to the FASB calendar four days prior to the education session.

OPEN ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION WITH RESPONDENTS TO THE FASB EXPOSURE DRAFT ON FINANCIAL GUARANTEE INSURANCE CONTRACTS

The Board will hold a public roundtable discussion to listen to the views of and obtain information from respondents to the April 18, 2007 FASB Exposure Draft, Accounting for Financial Guarantee Insurance Contracts.
