IN FOCUS: Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting Webcast for Academics

Program Description: The Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) are pleased to announce their joint webcast providing an update for college and university accounting educators on major recent GASB and FASB standards. The areas covered will include:
  1. Update on both GASB and FASB activities
  2. Current teaching issues
  3. Timely research issues.
Speakers: Dean Michael Mead, GASB Senior Research Manager and Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council (GASAC) Coordinator and; and Jeffrey Mechanick, FASB Assistant Director and Not-for-Profit Advisory Committee (NAC) Chairman.
 
Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
  1. Obtain a general understanding of GASB activities, including issued Statements
  2. Obtain a general understanding of FASB activities, including issued ASUs that impact not-for-profit entities
  3. Understand teaching issues and research opportunities in variety of areas.
Participants will be able to submit questions during the live webcast and download the overhead slides for classroom use.

Please note that this event is intended for university and college accounting educators. To register for this event, you must have a “.edu” email address, or otherwise be affiliated with an academic institution.

Recommended CPE: 2.0 hours; final CPE earned will be determined based on the length of participation in the program, polling questions as described in CPE Eligibility, and completion of a course survey. Credit is provided only to participants in the live broadcast of this course. Please note that credit is not provided for group viewing. Each participant must be registered separately and meet both polling and duration requirements as per NASBA.

Refund/Cancellation Policy: There is no cost for this course and there is no cancellation penalty. Participants will be notified by email as soon as possible if the course is cancelled for any reason.
