Date: Monday, October 17, 2022

Time: 2:00–4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time

Program Description: The FASB is hosting an online technical forum for commercial accounting continuing professional education (CPE) providers on Monday, October 17, 2022. The forum is open to stand-alone CPE providers whose primary business is to provide CPE, as well as individuals who provide CPE within their organization (for example, a CPA firm) or to their organization’s clients. CPE credit will not be provided for this forum.

Speakers: Jim Kroeker (FASB Vice Chairman), Helen M. (Nellie) Debbeler (FASB Deputy Technical Director), Jeffrey Mechanick (FASB Assistant Director-Nonpublic Entities), Elizabeth Gagnon (FASB Supervising Project Manager), and other FASB Staff.

The technical forum will allow CPE providers an opportunity to inquire about final and proposed accounting standards with Board members and FASB staff to assist in preparation of accounting and reporting courses. Topics of discussion are expected to include implementation activities (including leases and credit losses), recent changes to the FASB’s technical and research agendas in response to the 2021 agenda consultation, and select other ongoing projects.

Advanced Preparation Needed: A slide presentation will be provided. It is suggested that the participants become familiar with the topics that will be discussed during the forum including reading recent ASUs and prepare questions in advance to ask the FASB Board and staff during the forum.

The forum will also be archived, to provide those who teach your courses access to the topics discussed.

If you have any questions, comments, or further suggestions, please reach out to Elizabeth Gagnon at (203) 956-3477 or eagagnon@fasb.org.

We look forward to your participation.
