IN FOCUS: FASB Update for Nonpublic Entities

Date: Friday, June 17, 2011

Time: 1:00–2:40 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) of the Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) is pleased to announce an upcoming webcast focused specifically on issues of importance to nonpublic entities. FASB members Daryl Buck and Larry Smith and FASB staff members Jeff Mechanick, Ron Bossio, and Paul Glotzer will provide an overview of:

  • The FAF’s strategic review of standards setting for nonpublic entities
  • The FASB’s recent process changes made to broadly engage nonpublic stakeholders in standards setting
  • Progress on the FASB-IASB convergence program, and
  • Other active projects or recently issued standards of interest to nonpublic entities.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants should understand why and how the FAF is undertaking a strategic review of standards setting for nonpublic entities and its relationship to the work of the Blue-Ribbon Panel. They should be able to explain the many ways that nonpublic entities can monitor and get involved in the standards-setting process. Participants will learn about the FASB and IASB’s convergence plans, in particular, their plans for completing the major joint projects on revenue recognition, leasing, and financial instruments. Participants also should be able to explain how other recently issued standards or active projects will affect financial reporting by nonpublic entities. Participants will have the opportunity to email questions to the panelists during the event.
