Statement of FASB Chair Richard R. Jones Remembering Atsushi Kogasaka, Chair of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan


Norwalk, CT, November 22, 2021—Richard R. Jones, Chair of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), today issued the following statement regarding Atsushi Kogasaka, Chair of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan, who died on November 16, 2021.

“I am saddened to acknowledge the recent passing of Atsushi Kogasaka, Chair of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan.

“While I had the privilege to work with Atsushi for only a brief period, his commitment and dedication to standard setting was a model for us all. I greatly admired his leadership style and insights and appreciated our opportunities to meet. He was a true gentleman whom I will miss.

“On behalf of my colleagues on the Board and staff of the FASB, I offer our deepest condolences to Atsushi’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.”
